Important Discoveries Made with the Schmidt Camera
The most important finding is the discovery of the Haro-Herbing Objects (H-H), which was made Ph.D. Guillermo Haro Barraza in 1949. H-H nebular objects are considered initial stellar formation indicators due to their peculiar characteristics
They were discovered close to the region known as Orion Nebula (NGC 1976/M42) when the objective prism was placed in order to obtain spectral plates, to develop the exposed plate in the photographic lab and in analyzing the spectral image. Different characteristics (than those previously made) were noted within this cosmic spot.
It also discovered a type of galaxies: blue ones and other objects
The discoveries made by Ph.D. Haro won him the USSR "Lomonosov Award”.
