Schmidt Camera’s Main Qualities

The Schmidt Camera’s optical system’s main characteristic is its fast ability to take astronomical images. However, the average exposition time of a photographic plate depends on the type of object one wishes to obtain, this means that the shutter must be open during full exposition time. Nebular objects, galaxies and open clusters require an average of 20 to 45 minutes.

Another characteristic is its large field of view of 25 square degrees, this enables it to cover nebular regions, galaxy clusters and open clusters of great angular extension.
